EODS is the capacity\u00a0building project for EU Election\u00a0Observation. It is funded by the European Commission\u00a0and has three main areas of support:<\/p>\n<p>As stated\u00a0in EODS\u2019 website \u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eods.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.eods.eu<\/a>,\u00a0Election Observation and Democracy Support (EODS) is the capacity building project for EU Election Observation. It is funded by the European Commission and started in January 2013. EODS has three main areas of support:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>strengthening the EU Election Observation Mission methodology<\/li>\n<li>training election observation specialists in EU methodology\u00a0election principles<\/li>\n<li>sharing this methodology with regional organisations and networks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-4\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eods.eu\/methodology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eods.eu\/template\/default\/images\/1p.png\" \/>Methodology<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-xs-4\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eods.eu\/training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eods.eu\/template\/default\/images\/2p.png\" \/>Training<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-xs-4\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eods.eu\/regional-organisations-networks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eods.eu\/template\/default\/images\/3p.png\" \/>Cooperation<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Election Observation and Democracy Support (EODS) follows the principles of the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.needsproject.eu\/files\/Declaration_of_Principles_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>Commemorated at the United Nations in October 2005.<\/p>\n<p>With the objective of strengthening the integrity of election observation, the first Network for Enhanced Electoral and Democracy Support (NEEDS) project was launched in 2001, followed by NEEDS II and NEEDS III, the latter finishing at the end of 2012. Based upon the success of this programme and the continuing need for capacity building and promoting standards in the electoral field, the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) of the European Commission (EC) launched a tender to enable the continuation of the programme under the new name &#8216;Election Observation and Democratic Support&#8217; (EODS).
